Persecuted Christians – A Call to Prayer
Persecution continues to reach historic levels.
Join me in praying for those being persecuted for their faith.
Females often face “double persecution” for being a believer and a woman!
Christians remain one of the most persecuted religious groups in the world. Many countries are escalating persecution against believers. Every day we receive new reports of Christ’s followers who face harassment, threats, injustice, imprisonment, torture, and even loss of family or life because of their faith in Jesus.
The world’s news headlines scream, “Christians Killed in Village Attack—”No One Was Spared,” “Believers Fight for Survival in Regional Violence,” “Government-sponsored Destruction of Churches Continues to Spread,” “Severe Religious Restrictions Casts A Shadow Over 75% of the World’s Population,” and more.
Each day brings new accounts of discrimination, excessive and unfair fines, denial of humanitarian aid, expulsion from homes, property seizures, and entire Christian towns being destroyed by extremists or terrorist-led mobs. Sadly, such persecution is often tolerated, sanctioned, or even encouraged by government officials.
Even during the coronavirus pandemic, many Christians are being denied aid because of their faith!
Persecution continues to reach historic levels, including more than 245 million Christians in the world facing severe persecution for their Christian faith. That’s one in nine Christians worldwide!
In the last year alone (SOURCE: Open Doors USA):
- Over 260 million Christians live in areas where they experience high levels of persecution
- 2,983 Christians were killed for their faith
- 9,488 churches and other Christian buildings have been attacked
- 3,711 believers were detained without trial, arrested, sentenced, or imprisoned
That’s a rise of 6-percent in the past 12 months of believers who are experiencing high levels of persecution!
Females often face “double persecution” for being a believer and a woman!
There are a growing amount of laws and governmental restrictions that allow and actively promote persecution as this hatred toward followers of Jesus Christ continues to spread around the globe.
What can you do? Pray!
Join me in praying for those being persecuted for their faith. Speaking of the church as the body of Christ, we are told, “And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it” (1 Corinthians 12:26). Therefore, we must join together in praying faithfully for our brothers and sisters, according to Matthew 18:19, “if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.”
Will you agree with me in prayer for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ all around the globe, asking for God’s protection and wisdom as they face this persistent attack of oppression?
For the glorious and eternal cause of our precious Lord, Jesus Christ,
