How to Get Divine Wisdom

  • It is God’s will that you walk in wisdom.

  • Ask in faith, otherwise you will not receive from Him.

  • The word of the Lord that you study and apply makes you wise.

Do you desire to have the wisdom of God?

It is a great desire to have divine wisdom that will help you live successfully on earth. The good news is that the Lord is ready to give it to you freely, generously and without finding fault.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding – Proverbs 9:10 (NKJV).

Many Christians think that it’s not easy to get anything from God and this includes divine wisdom. However, God said we should just ask in faith and we will receive whatsoever we desire. It is God’s will that you walk in wisdom and so is ever ready to give it to whoever asks for it or positions himself or herself for it.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him – James 1:5 (NKJV).

Five Steps to Receive Divine Wisdom from God

1. Have the Fear of God

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). It positions you to receive God’s wisdom. It makes you accountable to God and so checks what you say, do and where you go. It was the fear of God that made Joseph to flee from Potiphar’s wife and her request (Genesis 39:7-12, Genesis 42:18). He acted in wisdom. Cultivate a deep respect for divine wisdom and let it governs your thoughts, words, and actions. This respect positions you to receive God’s wisdom and guides you to live a life in alignment with Him

2. Desire and Request Wisdom

Have a desire to have wisdom and ask the Lord for it. God said that if you delight yourself in Him He will grant the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4). However, you must ask in faith, otherwise you will not receive anything from Him (James 1:5-7). Ask and God will generously give you without any reproach. Solomon asked for wisdom and the Lord gave it to him in abundance and much more (1 Kings 3:4-13).

3. Study and Obey the Word of God

The word of the Lord that you study and apply makes you wise. Psalm 119:98 says that it makes you wiser than your enemies. It directs you on what to think, say, do and where to go; that’s wisdom. It is life to you when you find it and health to your flesh (Proverbs 4:22). Jesus Christ manifested great wisdom during His temptation in the wilderness. He overcame the enemy by declaring and obeying the scriptures. The scriptures enabled Him not to fall into the devil’s traps (Luke 4:1-13).

4. Keep Wise Company

Keeping company of the wise will make you wise. The people you walk with will determine the kind of life you live. Walk with the wise and you will become wise, walk with fools and you will be destroyed (Proverbs 13:20). Also know that you can keep company with wise people through their books and messages. Paul said to the Corinthians in 1 Corinthians 11:1 that they should follow him even as he followed Christ, and we know that Jesus manifested great wisdom throughout His stay on earth (Luke 2:52, Mark 6:2).

5. Music unto the Lord

Singing songs of praises unto the Lord with or without instrument attracts God to you. The only wise God inhabits the praises of His people. Music causes the hand of the Almighty to come on you, giving you the wisdom you need at that time. It connects you to the realm where you can hear directly from God. Elisha called for a musician to play so he could receive a word from the Lord. As the minstrel played, God’s hand came on him and he received the word for the Kings who came to inquire of God from him (2 Kings 3:5-19).

Now you know how to get divine wisdom, so go for wisdom and enjoy all the benefits it has to offer you.
