Worship Wednesday | It Shall Be Exactly as He Told Me

My beloved friend,

On Monday, I shared with you from Acts 27 about that dramatic moment when Paul told the soldiers to cut the ropes and let the lifeboat fall away. I cannot get away from this passage. The Holy Spirit has kept bringing me back to it, and today, on Worship Wednesday, I want to return to that storm-tossed ship and remind you of something absolutely essential in your walk with God: the importance of your faith.

Before the ropes were ever cut, Paul made one of the greatest declarations of faith in all of Scripture:

“Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.”
—Acts 27:25

Notice what Paul did not say. He didn’t say, “I believe the storm is getting better.” It wasn’t. He didn’t say, “I believe the circumstances are beginning to change.” They weren’t. He didn’t say, “I believe because I can see the answer coming.” He couldn’t.

He simply said, “I believe God.”

Oh, my precious friend, there are moments in your life when that must be enough.

The winds may still be blowing. The waves may still be crashing. Everything around you may seem to contradict what God has spoken. But faith does not rest upon what you see. Faith rests upon Who has spoken.

And this is exactly what the writer of Hebrews tells us:

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
—Hebrews 11:1

You may not see the answer yet. You may not see how God is going to bring you through. But faith does not require sight. Faith has something greater than sight—it has the Word and promise of Almighty God.

Paul said, “It shall be even as it was told me.” That is faith! God had spoken, and for Paul, the matter was settled.

And perhaps that is why they could cut those ropes. Their security was no longer in the lifeboat. Their security was in the promise of God.

Today, I want you to worship Him before the storm ends. Praise Him while the wind is still blowing. Lift your hands while you are still waiting for the answer. Tell Him, “Lord, I believe You. I believe Your Word. I believe it shall be exactly as You have spoken.”

Worship is one of the greatest expressions of faith because worship says, “God, I trust You before I see it.”

Whatever storm you are facing today, hold tightly to His promise and loosely to everything else.

Cut the ropes. Believe God. And worship Him as though His promise is already settled—because it is.
