Today’s Key Scripture (all references NKJV unless otherwise noted:
This is God’s Message, the God who made earth, made it livable and lasting, known everywhere as God: “Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.”
—Jeremiah 33:2-3, MSG
Through the prophet Jeremiah, Almighty God sent us His royal invitation to call upon Him, regardless of the circumstances in which we find ourselves.
It’s important to note that “call” is not a one-time action. It is a continual process, like life itself. This is particularly true of the many times that we need protection.
I am reminded of the words spoken by U.S. President Abraham Lincoln as he led America through one of its most devastating years: “I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. My own wisdom, and that of all about me, seemed insufficient for the day.”
Likewise, in the early, pressurized days of the United States, a stranger to the nation’s capital asked how he could recognize George Washington. He was told, “You an easily distinguish him when the times are the toughest and Congress goes to prayer. Washington is the gentleman who kneels.”
Dangers and trials will come our way, but if we obey God’s royal invitation to call constantly upon Him, we cannot be defeated or overcome.
We will be protected, and we will prevail!
A Prayer for Today:
Heavenly Father, I want to know more of You. Help me to seek You. Help me to understand and treasure Your royal invitation for me to spend time in Your presence. Help me to commune with You, simply sitting at Your feet. Help me to listen more intently and to hear, truly hear, what You want me to know. Capture my heart. Teach me Your ways. Draw me closer to You. Help me to become more like You. I pray all this in the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Amen!
