Today’s Key Scripture

“Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits.”

— Psalm 68:19

As a father, I love to give gifts to my children and grandchildren. I cherish being able to provide for them. And nothing brings me greater joy than to see the twinkle in their eyes as they unwrap a gift or to hear as they giggle with delight when I give them something they have desired. If a mere human being like me can find such joy in giving gifts to my children, just imagine how much joy our heavenly Father receives when He bestows good gifts upon us. Truly, our loving heavenly Father longs to bless His children.

How easy it can be to miss this very simple principle: God loves us and wants the very best for us. He really does. The more time we spend in His lovely presence, the more we understand how generous giving is such an important facet of God’s nature. Scripture says, “There is a river— its streams delight the city of God, the holy dwelling place of the Most High” (Psalm 46:4, csb). The Holy Spirit flows today from God’s own heart. This abundant river never stops flowing.

Yet benefits are only valuable when we accept them and let them bless us!

Are you embracing God’s promises? Are you moving into the river’s flow?

Today, discover more about the ways in which our Father blesses His children. Be challenged to take seriously the Father’s conditions for blessing. And experience the encouragement and edification from seeing how God’s outpouring of His presence will enhance every area of your life!

A Prayer for Today

Lord, thank You for Your abundant, abounding, awesome benefits! I am so grateful that I don’t have to earn a single drop of the mighty river of grace that flows freely from You today. Thank You for the unmerited favor and untold blessings You shower upon my life every day. Help me put myself in the abundant flow of Your love and grace. Help me to meet with You regularly to drink deeply from the water of life. I pray all this in Jesus’ name, amen.
