Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

The anointing upon Peter’s life was so great that his shadow healed the sick because he was willing to pay the price for the anointing.

Pharisees, Scribes, Sadducees and elders of Israel looked at the disciples of Jesus, mostly simple fishermen, and scoffed, “They are unlearned men and ignorant men.” While others recognized the anointing of God upon them and said, “These men have been with Jesus.”

The anointing carries great promise of strength, protection, victory over the enemy, authority, power and much more, yet it also carries a price. That price is total death to self. And it comes only in prayer. Furthermore, the dying must occur daily, as Paul wrote (1 Corinthians 15:31).

Jesus said, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me” (Luke 9:23, KJV). He also said, “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me” (John 17:21, KJV).

Do you want to be an effective, anointed prayer warrior? Spend time in the presence of Jesus. Die daily. Become more like Him.

A Prayer for Today:

Dear God, by myself, I can do nothing, yet You have told me to be strong and of good courage. I want to pay the price for Your anointing. Yes, I know that salvation and the anointing and all good things from You are freely given, yet I also know that the Spirit-filled life will cost me everything. So, like Paul, I die daily. I die to myself and my wants, and I seek to be raised up in Your image. Ignite my courage to serve You faithfully today. Help me to see with spiritual eyes all that You want me to do for You. As spiritual fruit is developed in me, may the life You produce in me help inspire others to follow You in Spirit and in truth. May all this be done in Your mighty Name, Amen!
