Today’s Key Scripture

“Watch therefore, and pray always.”

— Luke 21:36

In the closing days of his life, George Müller penned words that I believe are both a tribute to his faith in God and a challenge to you and me to never give up:

I live in the spirit of prayer. I pray as I walk about, when I lie down, and when I rise up. And the answers are always coming. Thousands and tens of thousands of times have my prayers been answered. When once I am persuaded that a thing is right and for the glory of God, I go on praying for it until the answer comes.

In the hands of God’s people, constant contact with Him is a powerful weapon against the Enemy. Omnipotent and mighty, it is a force that crosses the borders of space and time to bring the eternal power of God into the lives of millions.

Prayer establishes God’s plans. That’s why the call to prayer is recorded throughout the Word of God, compelling us to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

It is time that you and I begin to call upon God in a greater way as Christ’s return nears.

It all begins when we get thirsty and hungry enough to seek Him with everything within us, for He promises, “When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed” (Jeremiah 29:13, msg).

May we go on using this powerful weapon of intimacy and prayer until we see Him face-to-face in all His glory.

A Prayer for Today

Precious Lord Jesus, I want to get closer and closer to You. I want to spend time with You in intimate communication. I am hungry for more of You. You are my hope, and I need You every hour of every day. Your Word tells me to hold fast to the confession of my hope without wavering because You are faithful. Lord, I am holding fast, refusing to waver. I’m trusting in Your promises. Fill me with Your fullness and help me to follow You today in everything I do. In Your precious name, I pray, amen.
