Today’s Key Scripture

“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.”

— Matthew 18:19

The agreement is a principle highlighted many times throughout the Bible. Jesus Christ Himself taught how agreement brings the Holy Spirit into your midst!

Throughout history, great revivals have resulted from believers uniting in prayer until the Spirit descended.

 

The Bible records that “When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place” (Acts 2:1). Gathered in Jerusalem’s Upper Room were 120 followers of Jesus awaiting the promise of the Holy Spirit.

What was the result of their unity?

Suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:2-4)

The mighty outpouring of God’s Spirit took place when people came together in one place and in one accord.

When you come into total agreement, God has promised to move mightily!

 

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, I ask You to move powerfully in my life. I come into agreement with all You have in store for me. I ask You to show me any areas where I am not in alignment with You. I ask for Your mercy and grace whenever I fall short of Your expectations. I want to live in harmony with those around me so I can point others to You. Fill me, Lord, and may I rest upon Your promises, day by day, to be unafraid to walk boldly in Your light, even as I proclaim salvation through You. I pray this in the name of Jesus, amen.
