Today’s Key Scripture

“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

— James 5:16

Prayer is warfare, and it is won by an army on its knees. After all, God didn’t tell us we would fight a war standing on earthly ground with physical swords.

He told us, “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4).

God does not force us to pray, He only asks. It is a request that requires our response. Certainly, there will be times when we may say, “I don’t really feel like praying.” However, the way we feel is not the determining factor regarding whether or not we should pray.

Persistent, persevering, prevailing prayer is born out of our choices, not our feelings. And the enemy of our soul has no weapons to counter such powerful prayers.

Don’t stop praying. Take your requests to the Lord regarding every aspect of your life—your family and loved ones, your finances, your job, your future—everything that concerns you. And as you present these needs to the Lord in prayer, the answer will come in God’s timing.

Stand on the promises of God. Discover the victory that is yours when you proclaim those promises as you persevere in prayer.

A Prayer for Today

Father God, help me to be a prayer warrior, standing on Your promises. Please guide me on Your path of righteousness according to Your will and Your glory. Prepare me for the battles ahead. And help me to live holy, even as You are holy, so I can reach out to others who need You so desperately. Help me to become more like You, cherishing Your presence, so I can bring peace, light, and hope to a world so often filled with chaos, darkness, and hopelessness. I pray this in the name above all names, Jesus, amen.
