Today’s Key Scripture (all references NKJV unless otherwise noted:
The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
—James 5:16
Prayer is warfare, and it is won by an army on its knees. After all, God didn’t tell us we would fight a war standing on earthly ground with physical swords.
He told us, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds” (2 Corinthians 10:4, KJV).
God does not force you to pray, He only asks. It is a request that requires your response. Certainly there will be times when you may say, “I don’t really feel like praying.” However, the way you feel is not the determining factor regarding whether or not you should pray.
Persistent, persevering, prevailing prayer is born out of your choices, not your feelings. And the enemy of your soul has no weapons to counter such powerful prayers.
Don’t stop praying. Take your requests to the Lord regarding every aspect of your life—your family and loved ones, your finances, your job, your future—everything that concerns you. And as you present these needs to the Lord in prayer, the answer will come in God’s timing.
Stand on the promises of God! Discover the victory that is yours when you proclaim those promises as you persevere in prayer!
A Prayer for Today:
Father God, help me to be a prayer warrior, standing on Your promises. Please guide me in Your path of righteousness according to Your will and Your glory. Prepare me for the battles ahead. And help me to live holy, even as You are holy, so I can reach out to others who need You so desperately. Help me to become more like You, cherishing Your presence, so I can bring peace, light, and hope to a world so often filled with chaos, darkness, and hopelessness. I pray this in the Name above all names, Amen!
