Today’s Key Scripture

“Where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

— Matthew 18:20

I believe the message of agreement is one of the most overlooked themes of God’s Word. Praying in spiritual unity is a vital ingredient for answered prayer.

In the Bible, when people united in prayer, the results were remarkable, including these examples:

  • Moses joined with Aaron and Hur for great victories.
  • Naomi and Ruth, in agreement, received an answer from God.
  • David made a covenant with Jonathan.
  • Jesus ministered with His disciples.
  • The prayers of Paul and Silas brought deliverance.

Christians, uniting together, can win “impossible” battles. As children of God, we can intercede for one another in prayer and expect answers, based on His promises. Those who are fighting us are fighting God, a fight they can’t win. That’s why believers must stand together and pray, remembering that He is with us always when we are in agreement.

Only heaven knows how much I depend on the intercession of our partners in the work the Lord has called us to do. Again and again I point to God’s promises in Matthew 18:19-20.

And I am praying that the Lord will use you increasingly to move into the dimension of mighty intercession through agreement with God and fellow believers!

A Prayer for Today

Father, thank You for the power of agreement. Today, I lift up the lost, the sick, the hurting, the lonely, the needy, those who are grieving, and those who are imprisoned behind both visible and invisible barriers. Thank You for Your mercy and lovingkindness that is available to all who ask. I pray for those who need Your comfort, Your peace, Your peaceful presence, and Your hope. My heart especially cries out for persecuted believers around the globe, and I pray in agreement with fellow believers for Your deliverance. I pray all this in the name that is above all names, Jesus, amen.
