Today’s Key Scripture

“Another man dies in the bitterness of his soul, never having eaten with pleasure.”

— Job 21:25

What are the results of prayerlessness?

The Bible is clear about the righteous and the prayerful. This passage in Job points to the righteous one who “dies in his full strength, being wholly at ease and secure” (Job 21:23).

Yet the wicked, the prayerless, dies bitterly, “never having eaten with pleasure.”

Prayerlessness is a deadly sin and is the cause of all pain, but prayer is the key that will release all of God’s blessings.

Every failure in our Christian walk can be traced to prayerlessness. Our daily walk always tells about our prayer life and where we are placing our priorities.

Bible teacher R. A. Torrey once said, “Prayer is the key that unlocks all the storehouse of God’s infinite grace and power. All that God is, and all that God has is at the disposal of prayer.”

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, I praise You for the privilege of spending time with You in prayer. I praise You, knowing that everything good and perfect comes from You. I’m thankful that You meet me wherever I am in life, and I ask You today to help me stay away from the distractions of life so I may focus on You. You alone are worthy of my praise and thanksgiving. In Jesus’ name, amen.
