What are the results of prayerlessness?

Think about it—no light, only darkness. The wicked, the prayerless, will always walk in darkness and belong to the kingdom of darkness, not God’s kingdom of light.

Another result: “The counsel of the wicked is far from me” (Job 21:16). Imagine no guidance, no direction, no clarity of heart and mind. God’s counsel will never be given. He will never counsel the wicked. They will walk continually in confusion because of prayerlessness.

Worse, prayerlessness brings total destruction. Continuing in verse 17, we read, “and how oft cometh their destruction upon them!”

What overwhelming miseries and destructions follow the prayerless. All that they touch is eventually destroyed. All that they build will end up in ruin. They are left with nothing. Total destruction is their reward.

How grateful we should be for understanding the value of prayer!

A Prayer for Today:

Lord, how I long to spend time with You today! Forgive me when I neglect to pray. You alone are worthy of my time and my praise. I ask You to anoint me today as I rest in Your presence. I seek intimacy with You. Help me not to rush through my time with You, but guide me into a deeper communion with You so that I may be an effective intercessor—both receiving from You and praying for others. I desire to be a conduit that You can use, a vessel of honor in service for You. But first I seek You in all Your fullness. I lift this prayer to You today, precious Lord. Amen!
