Today’s Key Scripture
“We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
— Ephesians 6:12
Let me give you a word of warning. Just when you think you have reached the top of your spiritual mountain, often the enemy of your soul likes to launch a major assault against you. This is where the most powerful prayers against evil become our shield and strength.
A minister in New York once warned me, “For more than two years, every time I prayed, the most vile, filthy thoughts seized my mind. And when I began to read the Word, I was distracted by something out of the blue. I finally realized that Satan was behind all of these attacks, and I had to literally rebuke the devil in the name of Jesus Christ!”
Be forewarned!
The problems you face may be a marriage on the rocks, a child on drugs, or unbearable financial pressures. At times your mind can be invaded by troubling thoughts that just won’t go away. This is when prayers against the powers of darkness become essential.
According to God’s Word there are literally billions of demons on our globe. Paul wrote, “You once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:2).
Remember this as you pray with persistence and as you take authority over evil power through prayer against demonic forces.
A Prayer for Today
Father God, Take charge of my life. Help me step into Your authority and be aware of the wiles of the devil. I ask you to rebuke the evil one away from my life. I plead the blood of Jesus over my family and myself. I ask You to help me move into the breakthroughs that You have planned for me today—in my spiritual walk, in my relationships, in my career, and even in my finances. Quicken me. Let Your Word give me understanding. Lead me in the way of righteousness that I may understand You better and serve You more effectively. I pray all this in the name of Jesus, amen.
