Today’s Key Scripture

“Then Solomon began to build the house of the Lord at Jerusalem in mount Moriah.… And he began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign. Now, these are the things wherein Solomon was instructed for the building of the house of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was threescore cubits and the breadth twenty cubits.”

— 2 Chronicles 3:1-3, KJV

What is the value of a vision that God places in your heart if there is no plan to achieve it?

Solomon meticulously studied the details of the temple before the first log was cut or the first craftsman was hired. He knew the foundation would be “threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.” He calculated where the pillars would stand and where the Most Holy Place would be located. Solomon’s list of building supplies was extensive: cedar, pine, stone, gold, bronze, fine linen, and precious jewels.

He even knew how many workers would be needed: “And Solomon told out threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand to hew in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them” (2 Chronicles 2:2, KJV).

People who attend our meetings would be amazed at the untold hours of planning that make a broadcast, service, or crusade possible. I’m a believer in details. Many people are involved and all team members know the importance of their assignment.

Remember, the vision is the destination. Just as God gives you the vision as you pray, as you spend time in His presence, He also provides the intelligence to draw the blueprint that will lead to success.

A Prayer for Today

Father, help me to not only value Your vision for my life but also to value the plan to achieve Your vision. I know that spending time with You is crucial, as is treasuring my time in Your Word. I seek to meditate on Your Word throughout the day. I ask for a fresh revelation of Your Word every day as I spend time with You. Open my eyes. Fill my heart with Your wisdom and insight. Most of all, I ask You to fill me with Your love and Your peace that passes all understanding. I pray all this in the name that is above all names, Jesus, amen.
