Today’s Key Scripture

“He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart.”

— Luke 18:1

Dr. Billy Graham shared this story a number of times:

A little girl committed a certain offense and when her mother discovered it, she began to question her daughter. Immediately the child lost her smile and a cloud darkened her face as she said, “Mother, I don’t feel like talking.” So it is with us when our fellowship with God is broken by sin in our lives. We do not feel like talking to Him. If you do not feel like praying, it is probably a good indication that you should start praying immediately.

Sin breaks fellowship with God!

No power on earth can stand against the person who knows how to pray, yet the Word of God tells us that from the time of Adam, the enemy of our souls has used every weapon in his arsenal to destroy our ability to commune with God.

Sadly, most have submitted to Satan’s plan and have become prayerless and powerless against the Enemy. This has brought about great ruin and destruction in the lives of so many.

It’s time to change. It’s time to pray.

A Prayer for Today

Father, Your Word tells me that the heart is deceitful, and the mind is susceptible to wrong suggestions. Humanly, my willpower can be very weak. Thank You for Your Word, which reveals You and Your will, even as Scripture exposes my great need for You in every area of my life. Please strengthen me. Teach me Your ways. Overpower my wrong tendencies. Bring me to a deeper walk with You. Above all, help me to pray faithfully, spending time with You every day, for Your Word teaches me that prayer is the key to my walk with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
