Today’s Key Scripture
“I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.”
— Psalm 3:6
When he was led by God to write Psalm 3, David had seen his enemies increase greatly. Trouble was all around. They mocked his faith in God and said, “Who can help him now?” But David knew the secret of deliverance from trouble. He cried to the Lord and found Him to be a present help in time of trouble:
Lord, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. Many are they who say of me, “There is no help for him in God.” Selah. But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head. I cried to the Lord with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill. Selah. (Psalm 3:1-4)
You, too, will experience His power as you call on Him in your time of anguish and fear, for you will find Him to be your shield and the lifter of your head. And as you seek Him, He will fill you with His peace and cause your sleep to be sweet as He holds you in His arms and sustains you.
Truly great peace and protection belong to those who know how to call upon the Lord.
A Prayer for Today
Father in heaven, I want to thank You for Your presence, provision, and protection. I’m so grateful that You love me, even as You remind me of Your truth. No matter what happens around me, I ask for Your help in keeping my eyes on You. Whenever I’m discouraged, distraught, and downtrodden, may I remember that You use all things for my good and Your glory. Help me to trust You, even when it seems as if there are “ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.” Give me a heart that trusts You, even as You take away my desire to lean on my own understanding. I pray all this in Jesus’ holy name, amen.
