Today’s Key Scripture
“Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”
— Luke 22:40
Prayer and communion with God have the power to cleanse our heart. Every time I talk with God I feel cleansed in body, soul, and spirit. It is just like taking a shower on the inside—everything is fresh and new.
The psalmist David wrote, “Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. 13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression” (Psalm 19:12-13).
Prayer not only cleanses us, but it also protects us from sinning again. “Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart! They also do no iniquity; they walk in His ways” (Psalm 119:2-3).
Many sincere people confess their sin, yet within days they are repeating the same transgression. Talking with God daily not only brings cleansing for today but provides deliverance from what may happen tomorrow. Yes, you’ll be tempted, but you will have the power to say no because you have been praying.
The unbeliever yields to sin because there is no power within to resist. God cleanses the believer’s heart, and He also empowers us to stay clean.
A Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank You for cleansing me daily. I boldly choose to live for You and You alone, clean before You. Permeate my spirit, soul, and body so I can be transformed into Your image. Jesus, You are my perfect example of how I should live my life. Allow me the strength and wisdom to follow in Your footsteps. Grant me the power and understanding to live cleanly. Keep me pure, peaceful, caring, thoughtful, obedient, compassionate, and genuine like You, Lord. I pray this in the name of Jesus, amen.
