Today’s Key Scripture

“Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.”

— Psalm 17:5, KJV

Walking with God is dependent totally upon persistence in prayer. The Word of God says, “When Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me and be thou perfect” (Genesis 17:1, KJV).

The Word of God tells us that as we wait upon the Lord, He renews our strength: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31, KJV).

As you wait upon the Lord and seek Him continually, this promise becomes yours. Your strength will be renewed to defeat the Enemy. You will mount up with wings as eagles, for the majestic bird stands upon the rock and mounts up when the wind currents are at full strength.

Only those who wait upon the Lord are able to discern the currents of the wind of the Spirit and surrender to those winds.

The promise of God tells us to walk and not faint. Walking with God is daily fellowship and an intimate relationship—all the result of persevering prayer.

A Prayer for Today

God, thank You for helping me to move in time with the pace You desire me to take. Guide me on Your path, even when I can’t see all that You are doing. I believe You are doing a deep work in me. I humbly bow before you, asking for Your tender mercies and love. Thank You for Your promises of forgiveness and restoration. Thank You for Jesus’ death on the cross for my sins and shortcomings. Grant that I may increasingly live pleasing in Your sight as I give all glory to You for what You are accomplishing in my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
