Today’s Key Scripture (all references NKJV unless otherwise noted):

Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression.

—Psalm 19:12-13

As the psalmist wrote, prayer has the power to purge and cleanse your heart from all sin.

When you spend more and more time in prayer, you will say with David, “then shall I be upright.” When you pray persistently and seek God with all your heart, then you will increasingly live a life that is upright before God. More and more, you will walk in righteousness before God.

This is a process that takes perseverance, for the Bible tells us, “Sow for yourselves righteousness; Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you” (Hosea 10:12).

David declares: “Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart! They also do no iniquity; they walk in His ways” (Psalm 119:2-3).

It is only as you seek Him with your whole heart that you will receive His power to live a holy life, for only then will you experience the promise that you will need to avoid sin and distractions. Only then can you will walk in His ways with a clean heart.

Pray persistently! Spend time in God’s presence. Then a life of deliverance from sin will be yours!

A Prayer for Today:

Lord, my God, I am but a sinner saved by Your grace. I know that I am powerless without Your divine intervention every day of my life. And I am so grateful that You continue to have mercy upon me as I walk this path of life with You. I need Your cleansing. I confess my faults to you—faults that You already know. I ask for your tender mercies, love, and forgiveness. Even though I am so undeserving, I thank You for dying on the cross for all of my sins and shortcomings. Grant that I may increasingly live pleasing in your sight, seeking Your will, and giving all glory to You. I pray this in the Name above all names, Amen!
