Today’s Key Scripture

“You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

—Acts 1:8

What does it mean to yield to the Holy Spirit’s anointing as we pray and fellowship with Him? It means that we lay down our own will for God to fill us with His will. When we yield to the Holy Spirit, He will fill us, and bring a fresh baptism of His presence upon our life.

Hebrews 10:29 declares that the Holy Spirit is “the Spirit of grace.” In other words, He will not push Himself upon us. He is gracious and waits for us to welcome His presence in our life.

It is God’s will for you to be endued with power from on high, yet He will not fill what you hold back. He only pours Himself in the vessel that is given to Him. God’s Word declares: “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high” (Luke 24:49).

God’s mighty power will fill your life as you yield yourself to Him and tarry in His presence. The power of the Spirit activates the authority of the believer. You cannot have power without being filled with the Holy Spirit.

A Prayer for Today

Dear God, thank You for Your amazing power in my life. Thank You for Your goodness and for Your blessings every day. Thank You for Your great love and care. Thank You for Your promises. Thank You for Your sacrifice so that I might have salvation, freedom, and life. Help me today to set my eyes and my heart upon You afresh. Renew my spirit every day. Fill me with Your purpose, peace, and joy. I give You praise. I worship You in spirit and truth, for You alone are worthy. I pray this in the name of Jesus, amen.
