Today’s Key Scripture
“I’ll give you a new heart, put a new spirit in you. I’ll remove the stone heart from your body and replace it with a heart that’s God-willed, not self-willed. I’ll put my Spirit in you and make it possible for you to do what I tell you and live by my commands. You’ll once again live in the land I gave your ancestors. You’ll be my people! I’ll be your God!”
— Ezekiel 36:26-28, msg
The Holy Spirit I have come to know is the One who turns ordinary people into spiritual giants: “Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens” (Hebrews 11:33-34, KJV).
The Spirit of God anointed a shepherd boy named David and caused him to slay a lion, a bear, and a giant named Goliath (1 Samuel 17). He’s the same Spirit who gave Elijah the power to outrun Ahab’s chariot (1 Kings 18:46) and who gave the apostle Paul the strength to preach after he had been stoned and left for dead (Acts 14:19-28).
We are given the same promise: “If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” (Romans 8:11).
Believers who seem ordinary can be victors as we walk in fellowship with Him, for “in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37).
A Prayer for Today
Dear heavenly Father, I believe that You can make me more than a conqueror as I stand ardently on Your promises. Thank You for promising that if I draw near to You, You will draw near to me. Help me cherish communion with You, no matter what is going on in my life. I desire You above all. I’m so grateful that You are working on my behalf, even when I don’t see what is taking place spiritually. I ask that You increase my passion for spending even more time with You. Help me stay where You want me to be and to depend upon Your promises. I thank You for victory in every area of my life, for I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
