Today’s Key Scripture

“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.”

— John 17:20-21

There is power in agreement!

Charles H. Spurgeon, the remarkable nineteenth-century British minister, was showing visitors through London’s Metropolitan Tabernacle where he served as pastor for 38 years. After taking the guests through the main part of the building, he said, “Come, and I’ll show you the heating apparatus.” Imagine the surprise when he took them to a room where 400 people were gathered in fervent prayer!

The prayer warriors were in agreement, and the spiritual “heat” spread throughout the church, their community, and the world!

It was the power of agreement that brought the power of the Holy Spirit.

On the Day of Pentecost, the power of God fell because the apostles and disciples were united in prayer: “When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting” (Acts 2:1-2).

According to Acts 3:1-7, when the church was in oneness and agreement, the miraculous took place.

And as we agree together today, not only will we see victory and power, but we will also see miracles.

A Prayer for Today

Precious Lord Jesus, I join in agreement with other believers in praying for a great spiritual awakening. I ask You to bring a deep conviction of sin and spiritual brokenness. I ask for true repentance among Your people and a deep cleansing to sweep over us. I ask You to cause a spiritual hunger for You, and with that hunger I ask for a loving harmony among us. Fill us with a passion for souls. Only You can do this, so I pray all these things in the name above all names, amen.
