Today’s Key Scripture (all references NKJV unless otherwise noted:
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter,
But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
—Proverbs 25:2
God’s glory is concealed through His Word, but the believer, as a kingly priest, can see His glory revealed by careful searching through prayer and Bible study.
The Bible is truly a treasure to be discovered, and these deep truths cannot always be mined by merely scratching on the surface. Yet when you study the Bible with an open and prayerful mind, it’s truly an amazing adventure to see all God has provided. Everywhere, it seems, the Father has given guideposts which point toward the ultimate treasure, His Son, Jesus Christ.
The Psalmist wrote, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105, KJV). Likewise, we are told, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
To mine these eternal riches, even as with earthly jewels or precious ore, you are required to dig beneath the surface. That’s why it is so important to pray without ceasing, asking your Father to give supernatural wisdom as you search the Word for fresh, priceless, life-giving resources every day!
A Prayer for Today:
O God, Author of eternal light, I ask You to be a lamp not my feet and a light unto my path” throughout today and all my life. I desire to search Your Word that every step in my life is illuminated by You. I pray today that You will impart supernatural wisdom to me. And with that wisdom, I seek to praise You continually. May the meditations that flow from Your throne room pour through my life in everything I do. I pray all this in Your Name, Master Jesus. Amen!
