Today’s Key Scripture:
“Suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.”
— Acts 2:2
Is it really possible that the Holy Spirit can totally change us as we spend time in His presence? Absolutely!
If the Lord could turn mud into man as He breathed the breath of life into Adam in the book of Genesis, imagine what He can do by breathing on us again! That is what happened at Pentecost.
Those who tarried in the upper room on the Day of Pentecost felt the breath of Almighty God. And as it blew gently upon them, they were changed forever.
When the Holy Spirit empowers us, we can expect three things to happen:
- We will desire closeness with the Lord.
- Our ultimate desire will be to walk in the ways of God.
- We will be miraculously transformed into a new person.
Because of what happened when the rushing mighty wind filled the people waiting and praying in the upper room, the gospel of Jesus Christ spread throughout the known world.
I am convinced that the Holy Spirit, as He fills us afresh during our time with Him, wants to use you and me to continue impacting the world during our generation.
A Prayer for Today
Into Your hands, O Lord, I commit myself this day. Help me tarry in Your presence, for my desire is to become close to You. As my relationship with You deepens, help me walk in Your ways as I am transformed new every day. Give me an alert, respectful, and diligent spirit that understands how You seek to empower my life. And I thank You for the fresh wind of the Holy Spirit as You move in my life. I pray all this to the honor and glory of Your name, through Jesus Christ my Lord, amen.
