Today’s Key Scripture

“Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

— Matthew 18:18

Do you realize that what happens on earth through prayer affects what takes place in heaven?

The Lord not only hears the prayers of His people, He requires them to ask. God told Israel there was much He desired for them, but they needed to ask. For example, the Lord said, “I will also let the house of Israel inquire of Me to do this for them: I will increase their men like a flock” (Ezekiel 36:37).

Think of it! There would be no increase unless it is requested. God is ready to pour out a blessing greater than we could ever imagine. First, however, we need to seek His face in prayer.

Kathryn Kuhlman, a great prayer warrior who impacted my life greatly, once said, “That wonderful born-again experience is just the beginning of a new life, and I think that few of us realize our full inheritance as one of the King’s children, and that is exactly what we are. It grieves me that some of God’s children live such defeated lives.”

The words of Jesus always ring true: “From now on, whatever you request along the lines of who I am and what I am doing, I’ll do it. That’s how the Father will be seen for who he is in the Son. I mean it. Whatever you request in this way, I’ll do” (John 14:13-14, msg).

A Prayer for Today

Lord, I come to You today with a grateful heart for Your promise to answer my prayers that are in line with Your will and purpose. I live and breathe today because of You. I serve You today because I know that if You can work mightily in my life, You can save and use anyone, anywhere. My life may not be what I might have imagined, but I know it is so much better than anything I could have planned by myself—all because of You. Thank You for considering me precious in Your sight. May I spread that depth of love to others as I seek to make a difference both now and for all eternity. I love You deeply. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
