Today’s Key Scripture
“A wise, shrewd person discerns the danger ahead and prepares himself, but the naïve simpleton never looks ahead and suffers the consequences.”
— Proverbs 27:12, tpt
Only as we hide in God—not like Adam and Eve who hid from God—can we find continual safety from harm.
God in His great love will warn us of coming dangers, but He expects us to beware and hide in Him. Only the wise know how to pray and obey. The foolish neglect God and are punished.
God has sent His discernment numerous times—warnings that saved my life. I will never forget the time I was invited to minister in a politically unstable nation. It was a wonderful opportunity, and there was great pressure placed on me to accept the invitation, yet in my heart I felt something was wrong. I had no peace. I sought the Lord greatly concerning this, and in His grace, He spoke through my dear friend Oral Roberts who told me, “Benny, if you go, you will be killed and God will judge you for placing yourself in the position that led to dying before your time.”
It was God’s way of letting me foresee the evil and hide myself in His protection. Prayer saved my life, and the purpose of God was accomplished.
I want us to continually remember His promise: “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me” (Psalm 50:15).
A Prayer for Today
Father God, I pray for Your protection as I begin this day. You are my hiding place, and ask You to guard me from unforeseen troubles wherever I go. Keep evil far from me. I seek Your presence, knowing that You are my Protector. You are the One who fights for me day after day. Your love surrounds me. You are faithful in protecting me, and I will not fear whatever comes my way. I choose to trust in You, and I give thanks again and again for Your mercy, love, and protection. I release to you every concern, need, and challenge, and I trust You to direct my paths, even as You safeguard me, both today and in the future. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
