Today’s Key Scripture

“The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous.”

— Proverbs 15:29

Somebody may ask you, “Do you remember your old life? Do you remember the way you were?”

Most believers who have known the anointing will say, “I don’t even think about it.”

Why is that? The Lord’s anointing that breaks the yoke also destroys the bondages of yesterday, so much so that we do not even think about the past anymore.

Once we become a new creation in Christ, we identify less and less with our old selves. The moment we prayed to ask Jesus to forgive our sins and come into our heart, we were born again, and the liberty of God became ours.

That anointing destroys the yoke of bondage: “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).

Old things are passed away.

Yes, you still live in a body that will grow older. You and I have not yet put on immortality, so we must still fight sin and corruption. The difference is that once you are born again, you are no longer in bondage or slavery to sin.

You can pray in faith, believing, knowing that God hears the prayer of the righteous.

Thank God for the blood of Christ, our cleansing fountain.

A Prayer for Today

Father God, I ask for divine strength and guidance today. Sometimes life seeks to leave me drained spiritually, emotionally, and physically, but You hear my prayers. You know my weaknesses and strengths. You know me better than I know myself. So, I pray today that I will persevere under the trials I face. I pray that You will give me the patience and the courage to endure the challenges that are necessary for me to grow as a believer. Thank You for destroying any yoke of bondage that would sap my strength and slow my walk. And I especially thank You today for the eternal reward in heaven that makes the trials worth everything. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
