Today’s Key Scripture

“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”

— Psalm 37:4

Before King David died, it was his dream to build the great temple. And that was the problem. It was David’s vision, not God’s.

He called his family and the palace officials together and announced, “Hear me, my brethren and my people: I had it in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and for the footstool of our God, and had made preparations to build it. But God said to me, ‘You shall not build a house for My name, because you have been a man of war and have shed blood’” (1 Chronicles 28:2-3).

Then the Lord spoke directly to David and said, “It is your son Solomon who shall build My house and My courts; for I have chosen him to be My son, and I will be his Father” (1 Chronicles 28:6).

Why did the eventual building of the temple meet with such great success? Solomon’s vision was also God’s vision.

People often fail at life because they are chasing self-made dreams. They may have a desire, yet it lacks the blessing of heaven.

Understanding God’s vision is the secret to fulfillment and victory, and it comes through spending time in His presence.

A Prayer for Today

Father, I seek Your victory in my life. Help me understand Your vision for me. Thank You for seeing past my sinfulness and uncleanness. Thank You for the work You have already done through me as I pursue living a life of purity, praise, and thanksgiving. I choose to go deeper with You day by day. Help me to learn the realms of asking, seeking, knocking, and persistence. You alone are my Hope, my Refuge, my Safety, and my Lord. I submit my will to You today. Help me remember that You always know best. And I pray this, with deep gratitude in my heart, in Jesus’ precious name, amen.
