Today’s Key Scripture

“Ananias answered, ‘Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem. And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name.’ But the Lord said to him, ‘Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.’”

— Acts 9:13-15

When God told Ananias to go and pray for Saul, the disciple argued. Nevertheless, Ananias obeyed God and went to pray for Saul. Then he laid his hands on Saul and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 9:17).

Can you imagine calling someone who is a blasphemer, a persecutor, and a murderer, “Brother”? In the natural, it would be impossible, but that’s what the Holy Spirit can do. He makes the impossible possible, even with a person’s attitude.

Even the apostles didn’t want to associate with Saul. They were not convinced of his conversion. As far as they knew, he had been on his way to Jerusalem to kill them, for they had seen no evidence to support that theory. But that all changed through the Holy Spirit.

If Saul the persecutor could be transformed into Paul the apostle, imagine how He can transform you and me. Just one touch of His presence can change the course of our lives so that we will walk in His ways to accomplish His marvelous will and not our own.

A Prayer for Today

Holy Lord, Father Almighty, change my attitude to reflect You. May this be a day of fulfilled promises and bigger dreams. I lift up my heartfelt thanks for giving me another day to praise and worship You, whom to know is life everlasting. Help me bring You, the wonderful Light of the World, to an often-dark world, and grant me the courage to live according to Your light. As I continually submit my will to Yours, I know I will be joyful in whatever You give me. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
