Today’s Key Scripture

“Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.”

— Isaiah 6:5

I’ll never forget a particular service during the 1970s in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I sat on the third row of the First Presbyterian Church worshiping the Lord as Kathryn Kuhlman began to minister to the people who were in attendance. But I was so lost in the Spirit that I was unaware of what was happening around me.

I felt the Lord closer to me than ever before. I also felt I needed to talk to the Lord, but I could only whisper, “Dear Jesus, please have mercy on me.”

I felt so unworthy, like Isaiah when he entered the presence of the Lord. All I could see were my faults, weaknesses, and sins.

Again I said, “Dear Jesus, please have mercy on me.”

Then I heard a voice that I knew was the Lord’s. It was ever so gentle, but unmistakably God speaking to me. He said, My mercy is abundant on you. His words rang in my ears, My mercy is abundant on you.

The word mercy occurs 174 times in the Bible, reminding us that He desires to pour out His mercy upon you and me. The key is simply to come to Jesus as you are and let Him fill you with His abundant mercy and anointing!

Experience God’s abundant overflow of mercy today!

 

A Prayer for Today

Precious Lord, full of grace and compassion, I ask for Your mercy. When I stray from You, help me to seek Your mercy. When I damage my relationship with You, help me to throw myself fully upon Your abundant mercy. Thank You for example after example throughout the Bible of Your mercy extended to Your children. Please forgive me for the times when I fall short, and help me learn how to consecrate my heart to follow You daily. In Jesus’ holy name, I pray, amen.
