Today’s Key Scripture (all references NKJV unless otherwise noted):
And thou shalt put the mercy seat above you upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat.
—Exodus 25:21-22, KJV
I sometimes ask people, “What is the greatest desire of your heart?” I get many answers, but the one I get most often is this: “I want God’s presence in my life. I want to truly know the Lord.”
If closeness with God is your desire, here is some wonderful news: The Lord desires a close relationship with you, even more than you do. From the time God created Adam, man was created for fellowship. And from the moment sin broke that fellowship, the Lord offered ways to rebuild a loving relationship.
When Moses was given instructions for the building of the ark of the covenant, God’s greatest desire was to commune with His servant Moses, and His great desire still is to commune with you.
Today, all you have to do is come to Him. And when you approach Him, come with worship in your heart and praise on your lips. Come seeking Him with all your heart, and He promises you will find Him: “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord” (Jeremiah 29:13-14).
A Prayer for Today:
Father, help me to seek You today as never before. That’s my desire, and I believe that today is a new day—an opportunity for a new start. Help me to take advantage of the clean slate because of Your forgiveness, and show me how I can do things better with your guidance. Open new doors today for me to show the changes happening in me as I seek to follow You in every area of my life. I pray this in the mighty nane of Jesus. Amen!
