And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants, I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
—Joel 2:28-29 

The agreement brings the power and presence of the Holy Spirit.

Throughout history, great revivals have resulted from believers uniting in prayer until the Spirit descended.

The pattern began when 120 followers of Jesus gathered together in the Upper Room in Jerusalem to await the promise of the Holy Spirit.

What was the result of their unity?

Suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:2-4)

What happened was a fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecy of Joel.

The mighty outpouring of God’s Spirit took place when people came together in one place, in one accord.

When you come into total agreement, expect a mighty anointing of God on your life.

 

A Prayer for Today

Father God, help me stand on Your promises and principles. Please guide me in Your path of righteousness, according to Your will and Your glory. Help me understand the power of spiritual unity as I reach out to others. And help me live holy, even as You are holy, so I can touch others who desperately need You. Prepare me for the battles ahead. Help me become more like You, cherishing Your presence, so I can bring peace, light, hope, and harmony to a world so often filled with chaos, darkness, hopelessness, and disagreement. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
