Today’s Key Scripture
“On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
— John 7:37-38
One reason many people cannot move into the Spirit in prayer is because they don’t know what to pray. They have not incorporated the Word in their prayers to affirm God’s promises as they approach Him in prayer and supplication.
It’s important to understand that the Holy Ghost comes upon us to pray through us. This is impossible unless the Word is present in us.
If you expect to hear from the Father, the Word must be planted inside you prior to seeking God’s face. Those who approach the throne of God empty of the promises and principles of Scripture run the risk of praying against the will of God.
Come before the Lord with total assurance and belief, not apologizing or begging. Look again at these words: “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him” (1 John 5:14-15).
Remember, you are praying His will, not yours.
A Prayer for Today
Father God, I seek to pray Your will, not mine. Thank You for all the wonderful things You have done in my life. I am filled with gratitude that You continue doing so many things that I never could have imagined on my own. I honor You. I lift up Your holy name. Help me to know that You desire the miraculous in my life more than I can. You want to intervene in all my challenges, even when it seems as if the barriers are taller than my faith for them to be moved. Help me remember that it is not by might, nor by power, but by Your Holy Spirit. I pray all this in the name of Jesus, amen.
