Today’s Key Scripture
“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
— Romans 8:26
Who is the Holy Spirit in whose presence you seek to enter day after day?
The Holy Spirit I have come to know is the One who turns ordinary people into spiritual giants who subdue kingdoms, bring a desire for righteousness, open eyes, and win victories. Throughout the Bible, these anointed men and women escaped the sword and turned the enemies of God to flight (see Hebrews 11:33-34).
This is the same Holy Spirit who came upon a shepherd boy named David and caused him to slay a lion, a bear, a giant named Goliath, and change the course of history (see 1 Samuel 17).
The same Holy Spirit gave Elijah the power to outrun the chariot of Ahab (see 1 Kings 18:46).
He’s the same Holy Spirit who gave Paul the strength to preach the life-saving Gospel of Jesus Christ, even after the apostle had been stoned and left for dead (see Acts 14:19-28).
I pray that the same anointing which empowered David, Elijah, and Paul—the same resurrection power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead—“will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” (Romans 8:11).
A Prayer for Today
Father, too often I think I have to carry the burden alone and do all Your work by myself. This often leaves me exhausted, distressed, and depleted. I’m not always good at letting You be in control. Please show me how to surrender to Your will and Your anointing. I give the burden of day-to-day living to You, so that I can rest and be refreshed in You. You are perfect, but I am imperfect. Help me remember that today. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
