Today’s Key Scripture

“This is what the Almighty Lord says: I will also let the people of Israel ask me to make them as numerous as sheep.”

— Ezekiel 36:37, gw

Many believers fail to realize that what takes place on earth can affect the actions of heaven. You see, God is willing to act on our behalf, but He may be waiting for us to pray and agree with someone before He performs it.

The Lord spoke about this through the prophet Ezekiel. It was God’s will to give an increase to His people. However, there were two requirements:

  1. First, there had to be agreement, not from just one person, but from “the people of Israel.”
  2. Second, they had to ask God—the people had to “ask Me.”

The Lord is willing to flood our life with the riches of heaven. What is holding Him back? Our lack of prayers of agreement.

In effect God is saying, I want to multiply and bless you, but you don’t ask Me. I want to add power to your life, but you need to get into agreement with other believers.

Oswald Chambers wrote, “Jesus Christ carries on intercession for us in heaven; the Holy Ghost carries on intercession in us on earth; and we the saints have to carry on intercession for all men.”

Remember this: God wills it. We agree it. Heaven performs it.

A Prayer for Today

God, help me to be a righteous intercessor. Grant that I will keep my focus on growing and maturing in You every day, even as I work in unity for Your kingdom. Direct my heart and mind toward You as I gain strength through spending time in Your Word. Anoint me for Your purpose and glory. Help me to stand strong for You, even as I seek the strength of standing with fellow believers. Give me confidence to do Your works, knowing that in whatever I do, I seek to do everything in Your name and in Your will. Thank You for Your powerful Presence in my life. In Your Son’s name I pray, amen.
