Today’s Key Scripture
“Then God said to Solomon: ‘Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honor or the life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life—but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king—wisdom and knowledge are granted to you; and I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings have had who were before you, nor shall any after you have the like.’”
— 2 Chronicles 1:11-12
Would you like to see the Lord’s vision released into your life? There is a plan recorded in God’s Word that we can successfully follow. It is found in the story of King Solomon building the temple. His achievements did not happen by chance. There were important choices he made on the journey.
When Solomon followed his father, David, as king of Israel, the detailed plans for the great temple had been completed (1 Chronicles 28:20). Solomon was young, inexperienced, and questioned his own leadership abilities. He asked God, “Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge these great people of Yours?” (2 Chronicles 1:10).
The Lord was so pleased with this humble request that He gave Solomon a vision of his future (2 Chronicles 1:12). What a promise!
Still, Solomon had to make a decision regarding the building of this great structure: “Then Solomon determined to build a temple for the name of the Lord” (2 Chronicles 2:1). There was no turning back. The mammoth task of erecting this great temple was underway.
Releasing God’s vision hinges on making a decision, and that starts with spending time in His presence.
A Prayer for Today
God of all mercy, forgiveness, and lovingkindness, I desire to see Your vision released into my life. I choose today to come to You, to seek intimacy with You, to confide in You as my Friend, and to persist in Your presence. May I live my life in tuned with You, asking for Your guidance every day. Help me walk in joy, reflecting Your love to others everywhere I go. Help me speak hope, health, and peace to whomever I meet. I pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
