Today’s Key Scripture
“Do not remember the former things, or ponder the things of the past. Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even put a road in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.”
— Isaiah 43:18-19, amp
The reason the anointing was so heavy on the apostle Peter—to the point that his shadow could heal the sick—was because Peter spent day after day in daily fellowship with Jesus. Fresh anointing requires fresh fellowship.
It does not matter who you are or what experience you had in the past. If you are empty, you are empty. One of the greatest hindrances to your life today can even be what God did yesterday, especially if you simply rely on those past experiences.
God’s Spirit is always moving; He is not doing the same thing today that He did yesterday. You must never be so caught up in past experiences with the Lord that you miss what He is saying and doing right now.
Jesus said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God’” (Matthew 4:4). Proceeds is present tense. At the same time, we are taught, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper” (Isaiah 54:17).
There is simply no other way to live now, have power now, and operate in God’s anointing now than to live by the Word that proceeds out of His mouth today. His voice gives life and protection right now!
A Prayer for Today
Thank You, Father God, for moving in my life—for doing something new every day. I praise You, Lord Jesus, for using me to bless others. I ask that You shield me from the devil and the bleakness of this world. Instead, I seek to live in Your light and truth, no matter where Your path leads. I’m so thankful that no weapon formed against me will prosper, and every word that proceeds from my mouth will succeed. I’m so grateful that I have a heritage of righteousness as Your servant. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
