Today’s Key Scripture

“The anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.”

— 1 John 2:27

The Bible declares that the natural man does not understand the things of God’s Spirit: “The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:14).

The believer, however, is ushered into a deeper dimension through a heavenly perspective. The apostle Paul wrote, “While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:18).

The psalmist wrote, “Make me understand the way of Your precepts; so shall I meditate on Your wonderful works…. Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law; indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart” (Psalm 119:27, 34).

Why would he ask for understanding of God’s ways? Isn’t it enough to be able to read them and understand them with our human understanding?

The Bible is given to us so that we can know more about God and His plan for our lives from His perspective, not ours.

Today, ask the Lord to give you a new dimension of understanding as you pray.

A Prayer for Today

Father God, You are the rock of my salvation. I run to you today, seeking deeper and deeper dimensions of communion with You. I believe that You will strengthen me for the road ahead. Fuel me for the tasks You have given me to do. Help me to endure. Protect me from anything that would attack and wound me. Take me from one mountaintop to the next, yet stay with me through the valleys too. Lord, renew my strength. Fill me with Your supernatural power to overcome each obstacle in my path. I will keep my eyes on You, Lord. Thank You for allowing me to walk with You in communion and intimacy. I love You with all of my heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.
