Peace at the Feet of Jesus

Peace at the Feet of Jesus

  • Understanding our covenant relationship with God is crucial.

  • God has promised to protect you from everything the devil throws at you!

  • Seek Him with all of your heart, and He will give you peace that you have never known before.

I‘ve been asked again and again during recent days, “What do you think is going to happen? What should Christians be planning to do over the coming days? What can we expect? Why do I feel such fear?”

We stand on the edge of challenging choices, and this Scripture keeps welling up from inside me:

“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes” (Matthew 6:34 MSG).

As for me, I choose to stand upon God’s Word, and I feel such a certainty that a release of blessings upon covenant believers is coming that will be unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. More importantly, it’s coming sooner than you can imagine!

Again and again, as the newscasts keep blaring fearful reports from around the world, I’ve thought many times about two specific scenes from the Gospel of Luke:

  • We are told that Jesus got into a boat with His disciples to cross over to the other side of the lake. He promptly fell asleep, even as a horrible storm came upon them. The vessel began filling with water as the waves splashed and the winds howled. Christ’s closest followers were filled with fear. When they awoke the Master, telling Him they were perishing, He calmly arose, asked them, “Where is your faith?” then He rebuked the storm, which instantly ceased. Not surprisingly, the disciples “marveled, saying one to another, ‘Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him?’” (Luke 8:25 NKJV).
  • Shortly afterward, they finished their journey to the country of the Gadarenes, across from Galilee, and in the same passage of Luke we are told of a man there who had been possessed by demons, living naked among the tombs, and terrorizing the region for a long time. Jesus, passing by, heard the man’s cries and promptly cast out the demons. What happened next is truly amazing, for the people of the area “went out to see what had happened, and came to Jesus, and found the man from whom the demons had departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind” (Luke 8:35 NKJV).

Both instances astonished both Christ’s disciples and people of the surrounding area.

Jesus responded to desperate situations unlike anything the people had seen. As the Son of God, even as He lived in a natural world, He revealed an entirely new dimension of the supernatural:

  • The disciples, faced with impending shipwreck and death, were suddenly safe aboard the vessel that had been tossing wildly mere moments ago!
  • Shortly thereafter, the demonic man was changed in an instant. Instead of frightening the people of the area, he sat gazing up at the Savior, his entire life transformed!

There was no human explanation for what was witnessed. And I can only imagine how these new revelations caused His followers to see the Lord Jesus in an entirely new light.

How they must have stared at Him as He talked, seeing Him with new eyes. And I love to imagine the scene as the formerly disturbed man gazed up into the face of Jesus, listening with new ears that heard words of encouragement and peace, no longer hearing the relentless taunts of evil and destruction.

Peace in the Midst of Life’s Storms

We live in a time where we are pelted relentlessly with reports of impending doom and approaching catastrophes. People throughout history have seen troublesome times, some much more than others, but today we see the reports in living color, in digital immediacy, without ceasing, anytime we dare to look.

Either we can see what’s happening with faith-filled eyes as we move forward into a quest for adventure and opportunity, or we can focus on the fear and worry that the world is peddling.

I want you to know today that God desires to help you and me not only survive the chaotic turbulence around you, but also to walk forward in supernatural anointing, healing, and blessing—even in the midst of crisis!

As the world struggles, we have a covenant with God that will never be destroyed or taken away, for we are asked point-blank:

“Do you think I’d withdraw my holy promise? or take back words I’d already spoken? I’ve given my word, my whole and holy word” (Psalm 89:34-35 MSG).

The key to walking in financial victory today and in the future is our covenant relationship with God, based completely on His promises!

That covenant changes everything for us!

God’s Covenant Favor

Understanding our covenant relationship with God is crucial, for His words show us with great urgency that the most blessed, highly favored, and safest place for you, as a believer, is in God’s encompassing hands, especially as we move through 2020.

I can tell you now that I’ve never felt such peace and known such determination in my soul. In truth, my precious partner, we have no place else to go but back into His arms, and worshipping at His beautiful nail-scarred feet.

Regardless of where you are right now with the Lord, the only place of rest and peace is at His feet. Away from Him are chaos, confusion, and pain. Only at the feet of Jesus Christ do we find peace for the soul and assurance in our hearts.

We are promised, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” (Isaiah 26:3).

Isaiah 40:31 (NLV) tells us:

“They who wait upon the Lord will get new strength. They will rise up with wings like eagles. They will run and not get tired. They will walk and not become weak.”

Doesn’t the Bible tell us that in His presence is the fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11)?

I urge you today with all my heart to find the “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding” (Philippians 4:7).

Like the formerly demon-filled man sitting at the feet of Jesus or the disciples on the ship’s deck after Jesus calmed the storm, you can find true peace only in the blessed presence of Jesus.

Only there at His feet can you find His substance and everlasting glory.

Only there can you discover how His peace fills your life to the point that nothing can offend you.

Only there can you lift your voice with so many other saints who have sung these words to this old hymn, even when the circumstances seemed otherwise:

Peace, peace! wonderful peace, Coming down from the Father above, Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray, In fathomless billows of love.

I want to encourage you today, for I know that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

Because you are a covenant person, God will take care of you, even in times of fear, desperation, and panic. While the world struggles, you can rejoice, for the Word of God clearly states things that may affect the world don’t have to control you!

Because of Christ’s death on Calvary’s cross, you have a new covenant with God, for “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Vast Difference Between You and the World

Just as God declared (through Moses) to the Egyptian Pharaoh, “I will make a difference between My people and your people” (Exodus 8:23), today believers who have been washed in the blood of Jesus may be in this world, but they don’t belong to it. Neither are they run by it!

No matter what happens around you, your position as a believer is one of strength and power as you trust in your covenant-making, covenant-keeping God. So fear not! Corrie Ten Boom used to say, “The Bible tells us ‘fear not’ 365 times, one for every day.”

God has promised to protect you from everything the devil throws at you! The supernatural joy of the Lord is your strength. He has already done His part.

If you are allowing yourself to be crippled by fear, you aren’t accessing the blessings of your covenant with Him. Instead of being fearful, rest on God’s promises.

Realize that He is your Source, not the world’s system!

The God of the covenant is the King of glory. Everything belongs to Him. We are told, “The earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein” (Psalm 24:1). He says, “The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine” (Haggai 2:8). He created it all. He owns it all. And He wants to bless you beyond measure.

Scripture promises:

“Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who delights greatly in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches will be in his house, and his righteousness endures forever” (Psalm 112:1-3).

The word fear in this passage doesn’t mean to be afraid of God. It means to love, honor, and respect Him and to want to please Him. As covenant children, we don’t fear as the world fears!

And we are told, “Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine” (Proverbs 3:9-10).

My Heartfelt Requests

Today, I ask these two things of you:

  • Find your peace at the feet of our Lord Jesus Christ. Seek Him with all of your heart, and He will give you peace that you have never known before. Spend time with Him, for true prayer will bring the peace of God back into your life, regardless of what is happening around you. And I will be agreeing in prayer for you, my precious partner!
  • Help me tell others about the healer of broken and tattered hearts, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who still calms the stormy seas and delivers the captives. We are surrounded by people of all ages and backgrounds who are in trouble—spiritually, mentally, and physically—and the devil is fighting to keep those strongholds in place. Only Jesus can break through those strongholds!

Help me share the glorious Gospel to a deeply wounded generation. The people in this troubled world are open to the message of God’s love and peace as never before. These uncertain times are causing people to question everything, even their most deeply held beliefs. They want to hear real truth, real answers to their most overwhelming challenges. And we know there is only one answer for the world today—Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!

Trust only in the Lord as you give toward the spread of the Gospel, and as you do, you will be blessed immeasurably:

Blessed is the man who trusts me, GOD, the woman who sticks with GOD. They’re like trees replanted in Eden, putting down roots near the rivers—Never a worry through the hottest of summers, never dropping a leaf, Serene and calm through droughts, bearing fresh fruit every season. (Jeremiah 17:7-8)

God even tells us that He will give us wealth to establish His covenant: “And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” (Deuteronomy 8:18).

Because of His covenant promises, even when the storms swirl all around, you can sing this melody with a heart filled with praise and peace:

Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful face; And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.

As covenant believers, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb of God, we can look up into the eyes of Jesus, hearing Him calm our fears and giving us encouragement for the road ahead. Then, and only then, will everything else fall into place “in the light of His glory and grace.”

Be encouraged!

Your greatest days are ahead. Your future is healthier than your past, brighter than your past, more prosperous than your past!

God wants to help you survive the chaotic times and will pour out a supernatural anointing for peace, protection, and prosperity—even in the midst of crisis!

With great expectation for His blessings and favor in your life,

Giving should be natural to those who love the Lord and live fully in His covenant blessings. You sow seed for the Kingdom, knowing that He is the God of both the seed and the harvest. He wants to bless His people so that you and I in turn can be a blessing to others and share His love and peace with them.

Take a significant step of faith today with what He has already placed in your hands, remembering that the size of your seed determines the size of your harvest!
