Key Scripture

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”

— Psalm 133:1

The Bible refers to unity and agreement in a number of places. Amos 3:3 asks us, “Can two walk together unless they are agreed?” Psalm 133:1 is another great example of this powerful principle, as well as Acts 2.

To agree biblically means that believers are of one heart and mind when it comes to a particular issue or task to expand the kingdom. I have referred previously to Matthew 18:19-20. Jesus placed Himself in the midst of that prayer. He pointed out that there is power in agreement. When believers unite in belief, He promises to be in the midst.

Far too often, we keep our petitions to ourselves, believing that prayer should only be “between me and God.” Isn’t it time we take the words of Jesus seriously when He asks us to agree together in prayer and fellowship?

The Bible says that great things happen when we learn to pray and walk in one accord. This is such an important principle because God Himself models it for us, very specifically, in the agreement of the Trinity—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. This shows how serious God is regarding the agreement, as we should be.

A Prayer for Today

Almighty Father, I want to go deeper and deeper with You, especially in my understanding of the power of agreement. I offer my thankfulness for this privilege of knowing You—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. I desire for You to help me move into a more intimate relationship with You. Keep me mindful of the ways I can glorify You, even in the way I ask You for both small and large things. I want to commune in one accord with You and my fellow believers. And I pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
