Key Scripture

“Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”

— 1 Corinthians 1:10

Throughout Scripture, we are told the importance of unity. Unity is commanded by Christ: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another” (John 13:34). Believers are called upon to be united as we seek to follow God’s mandate.

You may ask, “Who are the people I should ask to join me in prayer?”

You don’t need everyone in the world to agree with you. All you need is the right person or the right people agreeing with you. A thousand negative people agreeing with you will end up draining you of your dreams and energy. One person, however, who is attuned to you spiritually, can turn everything around for good.

I have experienced the power of agreement in my life, but I hesitate to pray with someone I do not know. The Word gives this counsel: “We urge you, brethren, to recognize those among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you” (1 Thessalonians 5:12).

Be certain to agree with people you trust in the Spirit. Then there is power, mighty power, available to you when you follow God’s mandate to join in one accord.

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, Help me live, worship, pray, and work in agreement with fellow believers. Help me decrease that Christ might increase. I want to be clothed in the image of Christ Jesus. Help me walk in the power of the Holy Spirit every day. Help me remember that Your path is always the best and that Your way is immeasurably better than anything I could imagine. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.
