Today’s Key Scripture

“Far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you, but I will teach you the good and the right way.”

— 1 Samuel 12:23

Prayerlessness is in the heart of so many because the Word of God says they have no delight in God.

Job 27 tells us that the wicked and unrighteous person, also called a hypocrite, does not delight in the Almighty nor call upon God:

May my enemy be like the wicked, and he who rises up against me like the unrighteous. For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he may gain much if God takes away his life? Will God hear his cry when trouble comes upon him? Will he delight himself in the Almighty? Will he always call on God? I will teach you about the hand of God; what is with the Almighty I will not conceal. (Job 27:7-11)

God’s Word commands, “Delight yourself also in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).

Delighting in the Lord is a choice we make every day, just as those who are wicked have made their decision. But our choice, as God’s children, should always be to delight in the Lord.

Delight in the Lord today! Seek to put Him first in your life and to spend time with Him in prayer.

A Prayer for Today

Father, I choose to delight in You today. I need to hear from You. I long to hear Your voice. As I read Your Word and spend time in prayer, I desire to hear Your voice. I seek Your voice, and I also ask for divine understanding so I can comprehend and respond appropriately, according to Your will. I need Your fresh manna, new every morning. I bless You and pray all this in Jesus’ name, amen.
