Today’s Key Scripture

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all of their troubles.”

— Psalm 34:17

Abraham prayed and God changed His plans. Moses prayed and an entire nation was saved from God’s wrath. Elijah prayed and called down fire from heaven. Daniel prayed and the lions’ mouths were shut. Paul prayed and the prison walls were shaken. John Knox prayed and a nation trembled. John and Charles Wesley prayed and a great revival swept over Great Britain and eventually America. George Müller prayed, and 117 schools were established to provide food, shelter, and biblical education to more than 120,000 children in England, many of them orphans without hope. Evan Roberts prayed and a Pentecostal revival swept through Wales. The list goes on and on.

Today, God is looking for men and women who will cry out to God. It has been said that out of 667 prayers for specific things in the Bible, there are 454 traceable answers.

God answers prayer!

The problem is not the power of prayer, nor of God’s desire to answer our prayers. The challenge is often that believers simply don’t understand that prayer is not trying to overwhelm God’s reluctance but taking hold of His willingness.

It is my prayer for you today that you will increasingly experience intimacy with God to the point that you are in constant contact with Him.

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, I seek Your presence today. I desire intimacy with You. I boldly choose to live in You and for You and You alone. Permeate my spirit, soul, and body to the point that I can continue to be transformed into Your image. Jesus, You are my perfect example of how I should live my life. Allow me the strength and wisdom to follow in Your footsteps. Grant me the power and understanding to be pure, peaceful, caring, thoughtful, obedient, compassionate, and genuine like You, Lord. I pray this in the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, amen.
