Today’s Key Scripture (all references NKJV unless otherwise noted):

And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

— John 14:16-17

When Jesus Christ rose from the dead, He did something that He is still doing today; He spoke by the Holy Spirit. Scripture tells us that it was “through the Holy Spirit” that the Lord Jesus “had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen” (Acts 1:2).

The Holy Spirit is the voice of God we hear. He is the manifestation of God to our heart.

If I were writing a script of what happened after the Ascension when the Lord Jesus entered heaven’s throne room, I can imagine Him saying, “Father, My work of salvation and redemption is accomplished. And now it is time to send the Holy Spirit to earth. You allowed Him to come with Me. But Father, I promised My church that the Holy Spirit would come and be with them.”

It’s hard for so many to grasp the fact that the Holy Spirit desires to dwell with you, but that’s exactly what has been promised—not just to inspire and enthrall, but also to empower for the work to be done as we say, “Here am I; send me” (Isaiah 6:8).

Oh, to hear God’s voice, not only as you tarry in His presence, but also as He sends you into the harvest fields!

A Prayer for Today:

Lord, help me to be aware of Your voice in everything I do today. No matter what trials or victories I experience, help me to know that You are always near and aware of what is going on around me. Help me to run my race today with endurance, knowing that Your voice will be with me every step of the way. Thank you for Your love for me that never falters and never ends. And thank You for helping me to understand that my finish line is not in sight, but is in heaven where the crown of joy awaits me to an eternity in Your Kingdom. I pray all this in you lovely Name, Amen!
