Today’s Key Scripture

“Whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”

— John 14:13

Prayer and intimacy with God are closely tied to the anointing. We see this example in our Lord Jesus’ life, and we read about this connection in His disciples’ lives.

The Spirit of God anoints our life for a very specific purpose—to glorify Jesus in all that we do. And if we want all that God the Father has for our life, we must ask for it in the name of Jesus.

God’s Word declares that the anointing comes to bring restoration and recovery through our life, touching many:

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified. (Isaiah 61:2-3)

As you follow the Lord’s example in prayer, you, too, will be anointed to serve Him with power. And it will be prayer in your life that will cause others to see Jesus in you, bringing great glory and honor to our heavenly Father through His Son, Jesus Christ.

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, I magnify Your name, because You never fail. Your Word promises that I can be confident that You’ve begun a good work in me and that You will complete it. I’m trusting You daily, Lord, no matter the circumstances around me or what the Enemy tries to do. What You have promised will come to pass. Your will, Lord, not my will. I surrender to You and am confident that You know best in every step I take. I pray today that You will be glorified through my thoughts, words, and deeds. I pray this in Jesus’ mighty name, amen.
