Today’s Key Scripture (all references NKJV unless otherwise noted:

I love those who love me;

    those who look for me find me.

— Proverbs 8:17, MSG

Perhaps you have told the Lord, “Starting tomorrow, I’m going to get up one hour earlier every day so I can pray and read the Word.”

That vow may last for a day, a week, or perhaps two. Then what happens? Your good intentions are somehow forgotten and you press the “snooze” button on your alarm clock.

There’s only one way to make prayer and spending time in God’s presence a permanent part of your life. Begin by making a commitment to God that allows no turning back. When the process begins, you may have to tell yourself, “I’m going to pray and spend time with God whether I feel like it or not. I’m going to be diligent!”

Then, as the days turn into weeks and months, communion with the Father becomes as natural and just as essential as eating healthy meals. Your diligence will be transformed into a daily necessity of prayer and being in His presence.

The Prophet Amos was speaking to you and me when he declared, “Woe to you who are at ease in Zion.” (Amos 6:1). God has the right to be angry when He sees sleeping believers rather than prayed-up saints.

How can we expect a worldwide revival if Christians won’t take the time to pray for those they love?

A Prayer for Today:

Lord, thank You for being above all. I want to spend more time with You every day, for I realize that You are my all, my safety, my Rock of salvation, and my hope both now and for all eternity. Thank you that I can run to You as my strong tower when I face uncertainty and even disaster. Daily I seek your protection and strength over me and my loved ones, and I want to continually express how grateful I am for your Sovereignty over all. I release to You my every concern, need, and challenge, and I trust You to direct my paths, both today and in the future. I pray diligently in Your name, Amen!
