Today’s Key Scripture

“You do not have because you do not ask.”

— James 4:2

Today more than ever, our Lord Jesus is calling us into a deeper fellowship with Him. And as we do, we will become effective prayer warriors.

Why? Here are two powerful reasons:

  1. As we face today’s challenges, only prayer can bring deliverance from judgment and deliverance from the Enemy. Scripture says, “When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me” (Psalm 56:9, kjv).
  2. Only as we fellowship closely with the Lord in prayer can we stay in God’s presence: “They shall come with weeping, and with supplications I will lead them. I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they shall not stumble; for I am a Father to Israel, and Ephraim is My firstborn” (Jeremiah 31:9).

The noted Bible teacher and author R. A. Torrey once said, “Prayer is the key that unlocks all the storehouses of God’s infinite grace and power. All that God is and all that God has is at the disposal of prayer.”

Call upon God. Abide with Him. Spend time with Him in close communion, and your prayer life will be changed forever. Then ask, seek, and knock!

A Prayer for Today

Father God, help me abide with You. Change me forever because of the time I spend in Your presence today. Fill me with Your supernatural power to overcome each obstacle on my path. I seek to keep my eyes on You, Lord. I want You to fill me to overflowing. I want to know Your glory in ways I’ve never imagined. I believe You will prepare and strengthen me for the road ahead so that when I ask, You will answer. Help me to endure. Fuel me for the tasks You have given me to do. Thank You for allowing me to walk with Your abiding presence. I love You with all my heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.
