Today’s Key Scripture

“Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul.”

— Acts 19:11

When Paul came to Ephesus, he found some disciples and said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” The disciples to whom he spoke answered, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit” (Acts 19:2).

We find that Paul taught them about the Holy Spirit and then laid hands upon them, and “the Holy Spirit came upon them” (Acts 19:6).

Later in this same chapter, we find that God performed mighty miracles through the apostle “so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them” (Acts 19:12). The sick were healed and evil spirits were cast out because the anointing of the Holy Spirit lingered so powerfully upon Paul.

Paul was greatly opposed in Ephesus by both the Jewish establishment and the followers of pagan religions. In this difficult and dangerous city, God worked extraordinary miracles.

The Holy Spirit wants to do the same today if you are willing to pay the price, which means being totally, completely, and wholly yielded to Him.

A Prayer for Today

Thank You, heavenly Father, for being willing to change me from the inside out. I’m so thankful that You seek to live and flourish in me today. I am so grateful that I don’t have to live and move within my own power. I ask You to fill me with Your authority to share Your light, Your power, and Your peace everywhere I go today. May I always be aware that You are my refuge and safety. I trust my life to You, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
