Power from on High, Part 4

God’s touch upon your life will give you confidence, authority, and power as you help to usher in His return. You will be made aware of the invisible world around you, the world of God’s Spirit.

God is touching hearts everywhere with His presence. He is giving revelations. He is quickening the spirit of believers all around the globe.

The Lord is bringing His people back into the fold. He says:

“They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine” (Isaiah 29:24).

This coming revival will bring stability even to the weak and the unsteady. God will use His people—all of them.

What a time of historic outpouring and harvest it will be! But will we be ready?

Often, I have been asked, “Benny, tell me why you spend so much time in prayer and study of God’s Word?”

I do not pray just to minister, and I do not study just to teach. I pray so I can have fellowship with the Father. I study and learn so that I am fed and will be ready in season and out of season. I talk to the Lord Jesus so I can stay spiritually nourished. I stay close to the Lord because I want the glorious rain of heaven to fall upon me.

Before my encounter with the Holy Spirit, I struggled to pray. Even though I loved the Lord, it was often an effort to talk with Him. I was hesitant, not knowing what to say, and not sure if He was listening.

Praise God, all of that has changed. The struggle is over and there is prayer without ceasing. Today, I am praying that the anointing of God’s Holy Spirit will fall on fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters in every nation of the world.

Freedom, release, and abundance is on its way! The Word tell us:

“But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions” (Obadiah 1:17).

The Lord is announcing to the world that revival is on the horizon—“Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand” (Joel 2:1).

Three Gifts

It is time to seek God’s face as never before:

Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.” (Joel 2:12-13)

After calling us to diligent and wholehearted prayer does God make this promise: “Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen” (Joel 2:19). What do these three gifts represent?

  • Corn—the revelation of God’s Word
  • Wine—a fresh anointing
  • Oil—God’s power and favor

The world has consistently scorned the church, but God says the day is coming soon when they will cease to mock, for believers will overflow with abundance: “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

The deluge and overflow will unmistakably come from on high!

Both Rains Together

God is specific about the revival He is sending:

“Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month” (Joel 2:23).

What a wonderful prophecy!

The former rain deals with the spring rains and the latter rain deals with the fall rains. The first prepares the land for seed time, and the latter prepares the land for harvest.

plants receiving rain

In the Holy Land, the rains come in March or April, in time for planting. Then there is a long dry season before the rains return in late September and early October, just in time to gather the crops.

Notice what God is telling us. He will cause “the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month” (Joel 2:23). In the coming revival, seed time and harvest will occur at the same time!

Think of what is about to happen. As you sow the seed, you will reap the harvest! The moment you preach, souls will be saved. As you pray, God will be sending the answer!

The prophecy given to Isaiah will be fulfilled—“And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear” (Isaiah 65:24).

That is revival! That is the great outpouring and harvest!

A Divine Deluge

Are you beginning to understand what God is about to do? Everything about this outpouring will be supernatural. In this harvest we will see miracle after miracle.

Thus far we have only seen a mist, a sprinkle. But the heavens are about to open wide and we will see a divine deluge of God’s glory, as He declares:

“And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing” (Ezekiel 34:26).

What are we commanded to do before the rain begins? Pray that the showers of harvest will begin falling now. God spoke through the prophet Zechariah, saying, “Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field” (Zechariah 10:1).

The cloudburst that is about to be released is not determined by our schedule, rather by the Father’s plan. And I believe He has already appointed the time. It is the Lord “that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest” (Jeremiah 5:24).

There is only one reason some people don’t receive what God is preparing—“Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you” (Jeremiah 5:25).

If you desire God’s harvest on your life, you must leave evil and wickedness behind. Forget your foolish ways, and seek the Lord until you find Him. Cry out to God, “Heal my life! Heal my home!”

I believe you will see your children and your grandchildren prophesying. Their addictions to earthly pleasures will be gone. With great fervency they will be serving the Lord.

It Won’t be Long

Let us seek God for revival and the great harvest as never before. According to Hosea 6:1-3, here is what we can expect:

Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

Again and again, God tells us that day is soon approaching when the first and last rains are coming together! It won’t be long.

You may be saying, “Everything is in order. I am totally prepared. I’m ready for the harvest!”

Remember this—Jesus is longing for the harvest even more than you. Do you realize that Christ will not return until the former and latter rain shower the earth?

The Bible tells us:

Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. (James 5:7-8)

God Himself is diligently waiting for His people to wake up so the harvest can begin. He is calling us to prayer, calling us back to Himself, for prayer precedes revival and outpouring.

Again and again throughout Scripture, revival follows prayer. Here is how the prophet Habakkuk called upon God: “O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy” (Habakkuk 3:2).

Notice what happens after he prayed:

God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise. And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power. (Habakkuk 3:3-4)

The glory of God did not descend until the prophet called on the Almighty! And Hosea used the same key to bring revival in his time. He called the people to prayer. “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you” (Hosea 10:12).

What is your fallow ground? It is your past—soil that has been neglected and overgrown with weeds. Many people haven’t prayed in years and their fields are so hard they hesitate to return.

While it is true that the more you avoid prayer, the more difficult it becomes to commune with God. The ground has become almost useless by neglect.

God says, “Plow your ground. Call on the Lord until He rains righteousness on you.” It won’t be easy. Perhaps it will take days or months before the soil is receptive to the seed God wants you to sow. Many will undoubtedly give up after just one hour because prayer requires self-discipline and commitment. But what blessing and joy is waiting for you!

Will you respond to the challenge? Remember, prayer precedes revival.

Jesus Christ is Coming

Everything we have been discussing leads to the soon return of our wonderful Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The apostle John declared:

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. (1 John 2:27)

In the very next verse we are told, “And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming” (1 John 2:28).

Why should we pray? Why should we spend time in an atmosphere where the Holy Spirit is present?

God’s touch upon your life will give you confidence, authority, and power as you help to usher in His return. Christ described what is about to take place when He told the story of the 10 virgins. Speaking about the Second Coming, He said:

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. (Matthew 25:1-5)

Then, “At midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out” (verses 6-8).

However, the wise virgins answered:

But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. (Matthew 25:9-12)

Then the Lord added these words: “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh” (Matthew 25:13).

Jesus is about to return in power and glory, and His Word, described as a “lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105), is kept alive through prayer. It is the secret to receiving the power and authority that is promised at His return.

One of the great prophecies of God’s Word is about to be completed: “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions” (Joel 2:28).

How is the Lord going to pour out His Spirit on all flesh? Through you! Unbelievers are going to say, “These Christians have turned the world upside down!”

When God’s fullness arrives, everyone will know it: “And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit” (Joel 2:29). When the former and the latter rains descend, it will turn into a flood. Those who receive it will be used mightily as the anointing flows upon those all around.

You will hardly recognize yourself, for “the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man. And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee” (1 Samuel 10:6-7).

Suddenly, you are going to become bold and strong. Your mind will be agile and clear. Your spirit will become sensitive. And you will be made aware of the invisible world around you, the world of God’s Spirit.

Is this what you want the Lord to perform in your life?

Get closer to God. Ask for His oil from heaven. Seek the double-portion anointing. Be bold as you prepare to see unprecedented glory just ahead, for our precious Lord Jesus Christ has said:

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know … Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. (John 14:1-4, 12-14)
